The BJP had won or was leading in 240 seats at midnight on Tuesday, short of the majority mark of 272 by a long way. In the final tally of Uttar Pradesh released by the Election Commission, the INDIA alliance led by Samajwadi Party and Congress won 43 seats, while the BJP-led NDA secured 36 seats. SP got a majority in 37 seats while Congress wrested six seats from the NDA. BJP won 33 seats while its allies RLD won two and Apna Dal (Soneylal) won one constituency. Notably, the NDA had won 64 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
