Expand AllDay 1: Singapore
Arrive in Singapore and transfer to the Pan Pacific Singapore. This evening, meet your fellow travelers at the welcome reception.
Day 2: Singapore | Embark
- Accommodation
- 1 Dinner
This morning, check out of your hotel and set off to explore the landmark city-state of Singapore. A former British colony, cosmopolitan Singapore has transformed into one of the world’s leading and most innovative commercial centers. As you tour the old sections of the city, see how Chinese, Malay, and Indian cultures thrive side by side. Admire the ultra-modern skyline of high rises and the whimsical creations at Gardens by the Bay. Singapore is a true melting pot of culture, style, and cuisine. This afternoon, embark on the National Geographic Orion.
Day 3: Malacca, Malaysia
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Step ashore in the UNESCO Historical City of Malacca, where you encounter an eclectic blend of Portuguese and Dutch colonialism, traditional Chinese influence, and the vibrant colors of India. The port is packed with eye-catching cycle trishaws adorned with bright ruffles, hearts, flowers, and Hello Kitty—each a work of art.
Explore Jonker Street, the main thoroughfare of Chinatown, Christ Church and Stadthuys, some of the oldest surviving Dutch architecture, and the Melaka Sultanate Palace, a replica of Sultan Mansur Shah’s 15th-century palace. Discover why this beautiful city is known as the unofficial historical capital of Malaysia.
Day 4-5: Belawan, Sumatra, Indonesia | Gunung Leuser National Park
- Accommodation
- 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Arrive in the seaport of Belawan, one of Indonesia’s busiest ports, second only to Java. Pass through the city of Medan, bustling with the chaotic energy of modern-day trade and showcasing architectural ties to its Chinese and Dutch merchant past. Head inland to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gunung Leuser National Park, a vast area of rainforest and diverse ecosystems. This biosphere is home to hundreds of species, including orangutans, gibbons, elephants, hornbills, Sumatran partridges, monitor lizards, and the world’s largest flower, Rafflesia Arnoldi (the corpse flower or giant padma). While wildlife sightings are unpredictable, the park's stunning variety never disappoints.
Day 6: Penang, Malaysia
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Enjoy a full day of adventure in George Town, Penang Island’s vibrant and colorful capital. This UNESCO multicultural city blends colonial history from the first British settlement in Southeast Asia with modern skyscrapers. Wander through a beautiful mix of temples, mosques, and the Clan Jetties—wooden stilt houses built by Chinese settlers on the water. Follow the “art trail” past amazing murals tucked on side streets and painted directly on old buildings. Explore the boardwalk trails and canopy of Penang National Park, the smallest national park in the world, yet packed with lush jungle, beautiful beaches, monkeys, and colorful birds. Alternatively, immerse yourself in the fragrant herbs and spices of the Tropical Spice Garden, the cornerstone of some of the best food in Asia.
Day 7: Langkawi
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Known as the Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi offers some of the most beautiful beaches in Malaysia, with miles of white sand and crystal-clear water. Kayak among the karst outcroppings, fringed by healthy mangroves and lush rainforest jungle. Keep an eye out for the white-bellied sea eagle, Brahminy kite, and kingfishers with stunning plumage. Ride the Langkawi Cable Car, gliding over cliffs, jungle, and the Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells) waterfall. At the top, enjoy breathtaking views from the skybridge and explore the boardwalk trails into the jungle.
Day 8: Ko Tarutao, Thailand | Tarutao National Park
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Explore Thailand's first national marine park, Tarutao, which boasts some of the most beautiful coastline on the Andaman Sea. Dive into clear waters to discover healthy coral reefs and a wide array of marine life. Keep an eye out for the elusive and rare dugong, Irrawaddy dolphin, and hundreds of brightly colored fish. Head inland on one of the many white sandy beaches to search for crab-eating macaques, otters, common palm civets, flying bats, and a multitude of birds like the scarlet-breasted flowerpecker, pied trillers, and grey-headed sea eagles.
Day 9: Ko Rok Noi | Mu Ko Lanta National Park
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today starts with our arrival off the coast of the small and pristine gem—Ko Rok Noi. This paradise is surrounded by a healthy shallow reef system, offering opportunities for morning exploration both above and below the crystal-clear waters. You can snorkel and dive in this untouched paradise or opt for a leisurely kayak paddle or stand-up paddleboard along the rocky coastline, with a clear view of the underwater world. Follow the white sandy beach into the jungle to discover the beauty of Koh Rok waterfall. Enjoy lunch on deck as the ship moves towards Ko Lanta, the largest island in the marine reserve, where we will continue our explorations both above and below the sea.
Day 10: Phi Phi Islands
- Accommodation
- 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Just off the coast of Krabi province, you find a small archipelago of six islands known as Koh Phi Phi. These shores boast postcard-perfect views of spectacular karst formations, clear turquoise waters, and brightly painted long tail boats. You can enjoy Zodiac cruises along the high cliffs and through the mangroves, snorkel or scuba dive among vibrant reefs, view the ancient rock art of Tham Phaya Nak and Viking Cave, or take a stroll along a deserted white sand beach for quiet reflection—there are endless choices for exploration.
Day 11: phu*ket | Disembark
- 1 Breakfast
Upon waking up this morning in phu*ket province, the largest in Thailand, you'll enjoy breakfast before disembarking to explore Old phu*ket Town. As a historic center of trade, you'll observe the influences left by Chinese, Indian, and European merchants who settled here. After a traditional lunch, you'll transfer to the airport for your flights homeward.

I served as the person responsible for planning a trip to Galapagos and Machu Picchu for a group of 14 people. Jane with Adventure Life was very helpful throughout the process. Making suggestions, offering insight, and in the end helped me overhaul an initial plan into something even better. Also, Jane makes all the plans including the flights within and between Peru and Ecuador. Thanks to her this is going to be a stress-free adventure. After making the final decision about the trip, Jane gathered the contact information for all the travelers and sent out the details to each traveler individually with links to pay deposits, upload passport info, and personal preferences. She also ensured a group email was sent out to the entire group welcoming us to the trip preparation process. Our trip is a year from now and we are excited to make this once in a life time trek. I am happy to have organized things through Adventure Life. However, two small issues came up that were a little off putting. First, Adventure Life adds $50 per person to the cost for each traveler as a donation to a Galapagos conservation fund. I think this should he offered as something that can be added at each traveler’s discretion. Instead, it is automatically added, and each person must ask to have it removed if they do not want it included. Second, although the trip deposit may be paid with a credit card without incurring an additional fee, the balance must be paid in another way to avoid a 3% credit card fee. Maybe this is standard with all travel agencies. In the end I would definitely go through Adventure Life for the next big trip.
