Christy or actress Anna Faris left her role on the TV series Mom and fans are wondering about what was the real reason behind it all. The shock came to all of us back in 2020 when Mom released its brand new season 8. Although, the biggest part which did not sit well with the fans was the fact that Anna was not on the screen once again as the lead character.

Also, given the fact that this news was no stranger to the fans that Anna would not return, the biggest fear they had was that the writers would just kill off her character badly. Thankfully, that did not happen instead, they turned it all around in a very smart manner. In a note to end the bitterness of her learning, the writers sent her off to the East Coast to a law school to study. Gemma Baker is the showrunner of Mom. While talking in an interview about the new season without Anna, she talked about how they did not want to kill Christy at all.

I mean, they have actually killed characters before but it just did not look like the right choice for her as she was always a darling to the fans. Obviously, if Christy was killed off, the entire connection that the audience had built with the series would be slashed as well, and thus, there will be no attachment to the upcoming plot whatsoever. They decided that it was time Christy moved from this small time and decided for bigger things in life. Now, the fans started wondering why Faris had to make this emotional decision at all.

Why Did Christy Leave Mom After Season 7?

Anna Faris decided to move on from Mom in order to venture more creatively and find out different career options. In one of her statements which were issued officially after she decided to leave the show, Faris explained that the past few years that she has spent working on the show were a constant appreciation of her time well spent with the best set of cast mates and a great plotline to perform.

She says this was a beautiful work experience that she wishes upon all her friends. Although, her journey as Christy was bound to end at one point and the time felt right to take the next big step. Anna talked about how coming to an end actually allowed her to take up some new opportunities and decide what is in store for her in the future.

As for CBS, the creators talked about how they were even more shocked than the fans when Anna decided to not follow her contract. Turns out that her legal binding to the series was till the end of season 8. Given the fact that there was still a whole season left, Anna left kind of early. Soon, we saw her take up other roles in projects such as Summer Madness. Her co-star on Mom, Allison Janney was especially really upset by this step but wishes her friend well for everything that she has in store for herself. She said that everyone loved her character Christy and she was what brought everyone together on the screen.

How Did Christy Exit the Show?

They talk about how huge of a loss it is to not have her on the screen this time as the entire show was about her only. Now, Jaime Presley was really excited to share the news that even though Christy has moved across the country to learn and pursue her passion in law, we will be sharing about her enough. Pressly talked about how in each episode there will be talks about her and this will make us feel connected to her character even though she is not able to be physically present at that time.

On the other hand, fans are more than excited to see her coming back on the screen in some other project which suits her type and makes her happy. We love her in the comedy genre and to see her on the screen, big or small, is just a treat.
